Uber has turned the whole private passenger world upside down, and opened up a whole new of making money for ordinary people like you and me. Discover how you can make $25 an hour – or sometimes much more – anytime you want.
Profit from the Ride-Sharing Revolution
Just a few years ago, Uber didn’t exist – now it’s one of the most popular ways of getting around! Ride sharing is a great way to get to your destination at a reasonable price, but that’s only one half of the story.
Uber is a great money-making opportunity, too. Over 160,000 Uber drivers are now making around $25 an hour for work that is fun and easy to do.
Flexible Money-Making System
Perhaps the best thing about Uber driving as an income strategy is that is totally flexible. You can literally work whenever you want. If you have a few hours to spare, you log into the Uber system and start taking rides. You will usually be making money within minutes. When you decide you have earned enough for the day – or if something urgent comes up – you simply log off from the app. Job done!
So if you need some extra cash, but you need to work flexible hours, then Uber driving is a fantastic option to choose. Let’s look at how you can make it work for you…
The Uber Experience
Just in case you’ve just come back from an extended trip to Mars, let’s go over the basics of what Uber is all about. To put it simply, it’s like taxis on steroids. Both Uber drivers and Uber riders use phone apps to access the system.
When a passenger needs a ride, he or she enters the request into the app. The system matches the passenger up with a nearby driver, and a few minutes later the passenger is in the car and heading for the destination.
Uber has become amazing popular because it uses advanced technology to re-invent the whole idea of private passenger passport. Drivers make good money, customers get cheap rides, and everyone is happy (except for traditional taxi-cab firms…but that’s another story!).
The good news is that almost anyone can become an Uber driver. As long as you are able to pass a few basic requirements, you are all set to start making good money. Drivers usually average around $25 per hour, but at peak times, this can double, or even triple. At really busy times such as New Year’s Eve, drivers can easily make over $200 per hour!
How to Become an Uber Driver
To get started, you just need to fill out the application on the Uber website. In order to be approved as a driver, you must pass an initial background check. You also need a valid driver’s license and insurance for your state. You can use any car that is less than ten year’s old, as long as the car passes a basic safety test.
You don’t have to pay any kinds of fees to apply, and Uber covers the cost of the background checks, etc. You will normally be approved within two weeks, and then you are good to go.
How it Works
Once you and your car have been given the green light (pun intended), you are ready to start driving and making money. You download the Uber app onto your phone and setup your account. Then when you are ready to start work, you simply log onto the app.
The system identifies your location using GPS, and then starts looking for people around you who need a ride. If you live in a decent-sized city, then you will be amazed at how much demand there is. Within a few minutes of logging on, you will usually be on your way to pick up a passenger – one who is often located just a block or two away.
A Fun and Friendly Job
One of the great benefits of being an Uber driving is that you meet some wonderful people in your travels. The way the system works, the driver and the passenger know each other’s names before you even meet. So you start on first-name terms, and may soon be chatting away.
Many of your passengers will turn out to be interesting, and who knows, you may even become friends. I know one driver – a recent IT graduate - who received three job offers from passengers whilst working to make some summer cash.
How Much Can You Make?
You should remember that you have to pay out some costs before you get your take-home pay. Uber takes 20% as its commission, but that is money well earned – you wouldn’t have this awesome job without them. Then there are the running costs for your car, such as gas, insurance and repairs. But even taking all of these into account, you can still earn a good $20-$25 an hour, depending on where you live, and what hours you work.
Surge Your Way to Bigger Earnings!
A great way to boost your Uber earnings is to work at times when ‘Surge Pricing’ comes into effect. This happens at peak times such as rush hour and when the local bars close. The demand for rides increases, so Uber increases the payouts to encourage more drivers to log and take on the available rides.
Thanks to this elastic ‘supply and demand,’ pricing, you can make great money when demand is high. On Friday and Saturday nights, you might be able to make a cool $500 per shift. That’s $1000 a week for working just two shifts…not bad at all!
Get a Free Car, Too!
Uber driving can also be a way of getting behind the wheel of a new car, without paying out a single cent in hard cash. To encourage more people to become drivers, Uber is offering special financing that allows you to drive a new car out of the showroom having paid nothing whatsoever for it. The payments for the car are then deducted from your weekly Uber payments.
Because Uber knows you are making money every week, they can be more lenient with terms than most other lenders. So if your credit is not in such great shape, this can be a fantastic way of getting to drive a brand-new car. You can find out more about Uber Financing in my article here.
Try it…You Might Just Love It!
While I haven’t tried Uber driving myself, I know several people who have, and they all seem to love their job. And when I ride with Uber, the drivers always seem to be happy with their work, and the money they are making.
If you need extra money, and especially if you need the freedom to work when it suits you, then Uber driving is a fantastic option to consider.
